CHINA's Qingdao port recorded over 100 million tonnes in its throughput volume in the previous four months,on spite of an increasing impact brought on by the global downturn,reports Xinhua.
QIngdao port first registered a volume over 100 million tonnes in 2001,said the port's president Chan Dechuan.The port moved cargo at a speed of 10.1 tonnes per second in the previous four months ,finishing 100 million tonnes ahead or by five days compared with last year.
In the first quarter,volume from foreign trade grew 3.3 per cent year on year,surpassing Shanghai's growth to rank the first nationwide in this category.While container volume mounted 2.3 per cent to rank third and its port throughput increased 4.5 per cent,exceeding Guangzhou's and putting Qingdao in fourth place.
